Show off your silly hats aka "helms"

By: Michael Posted on May 11, 2007 at 12:09 PM

May be some of you like the helms in LOTRO but I find them so silly although I have seen some good ones. I'll post mine later today. For those who do not play LOTRO, you'll see what I mean lol. This is why I always play with helmet turned off!

I have to start this off with THE dumbest hat of them all - lvl 15 quest helm for hunters. On an elf, it's silly. It makes Hobbits look like teddy bears, lol. Yeah, I always play with the UI set to not display it. In contrast, I always play with my guardian's helm on. It's spiked and looks pretty awesome.

haha, that's the same hat my Ranger has on her.

  • By: Michael Posted on May 11, 2007 at 10:38 PM

Alright, here's my Champion's funky hat lol

  • By: BraveBrain Posted on May 12, 2007 at 6:32 AM

I have actually seen kewl helms in Lotro, but only on lvl 30+ chars.

I'll see what I can do about getting my chars to pose with their head gear on, although it'll be tough to convince my champ to even admit he's wearing any...

Good stuff! I wish I had taken some pics of helms my characters had in the past. One of them looked a beanie, except a little point was in place of the propeller, heh.

Oh yeah, most LoTRO hats are a fashion faux pas.  All my char's abstain from showing them off!!!

  • By: Michael Posted on May 12, 2007 at 8:33 PM

lol. i got a new helm for my Champ. in it's whole glory

  • By: Torhad Posted on May 12, 2007 at 10:20 PM

That one doesn't look too bad, Michael. You think it looks silly?

  • By: Michael Posted on May 13, 2007 at 1:14 AM

nah, it doesnt look too bad. i just wanted to post it :)

  • By: Torhad Posted on May 13, 2007 at 7:54 PM

In that case, I will post my Guardian helm:

  • By: Michael Posted on May 13, 2007 at 8:53 PM

that one looks pretty good. is that the default color or is it dyed?

  • By: Torhad Posted on May 13, 2007 at 10:02 PM

Nope, that's default. One of my favorite helms so far and one of the few I like to display on my toon. AFAIK, can only get it if you're a Guardian.

  • By: Michael Posted on May 14, 2007 at 9:18 AM

i agree. i wouldnt mind displaying that helm on one of my chars if i had it for my guard. i wish i hadnt dispose my "Cone heads" helm lol. i'm sure you've seen it before. i think that's probably one of the funniest helm!

  • By: BraveBrain Posted on May 18, 2007 at 5:31 PM

What I don't like about even the ok helms is that you tend to go bald... :/

  • By: Michael Posted on May 18, 2007 at 10:09 PM

exactly! the same thing happens for Guild Wars.

  • By: Michael Posted on May 19, 2007 at 2:48 AM

    here's another silly hat

  • By: BraveBrain Posted on May 19, 2007 at 7:37 PM

    IE friendly link to pic

    lol, good one.

here's the magic baldness effect of wearing a helm and the instant paleness of the ears!

  • By: elvenassassin Posted on May 19, 2007 at 11:25 PM

Hey, those pictures seem very small..is there any way to view them larger?

  • By: BraveBrain Posted on May 20, 2007 at 12:07 AM

Not an easy way if you're using Internet Explorer.

You can right-click, choose properties and copy the url, then paste it into your address bar (of a new IE window/tab maybe)...

Or you can right-click, choose Copy, then open Paint or some other image editing software and paste it in.

    :-/

Or everyone can edit their posts to include an IE friendly link ^^

If you're using Firefox you should find a Show Picture (or similar) in the right-click menu

    what BraveBrain said =]

  • By: BraveBrain Posted on May 20, 2007 at 7:36 AM

    Oh yay!

I found an easier way if you're using IE 7 (with tabbed browsing).

Drag the pic onto the tab and it will open that pic.
It's probably meant to open it in a new tab if that's where you drag it, but it doesn't.
Then use your Back button to get back to the web page.

Hmmm, Bravebrain and live in the same house and yet I had to find out about this feature here... :/

  • By: BraveBrain Posted on May 22, 2007 at 2:58 AM

Well, it wouldn't be fair to the others if I told you before them :P

  • By: Michael Posted on May 22, 2007 at 11:37 AM
