I've never seen any numbers, but they were the best selling computer game for quite a while this spring/summer I believe.

I failed to find any updates on that situation :/

Their Trial Subscription option that came later probably didn't decrease the user base a whole lot.
Although the majority of trial players probably move on when the trial is over I doubt a game like LoTRO has any problems converting quite a few to monthly subscribers.

I haven't been playing in a while, but I'm currently downloading the 16 updates that's been since last time. lol

So, no accurate numbers about users but around September LoTRO had at least 800k subscribers, based on the around 4 million in-game characters. It doesn't mention Codemasters (EU) though, so it might be for Turbine (US/CAN/NZ/AUS) only.
